On April 13 2024, I gave the closing talk at TEDx Santa Cruz. I was delighted to share my thoughts on how Astronomy can bring Humankind together, and spread kindness and compassion in the world.
I recently presented an iPoster titled Uniting Humanity Through the Night Sky: Multilingual and Multicultural Approaches to Astronomy Outreach at the 245th meeting of the American Astronomical Society. You can read the iPoster here.

I was honored to give the graduation speech at the 2024 UC Santa Cruz commencement ceremony . I speak about valuable things I have learned in graduate school, such as self-love, resilience, Buddhism, and Stoicism, with Astronomy and companionship insights.
UC Santa Cruz recently made a short video highlighting some of my thoughts on how the Night Sky connects Humanity: Voices of the Century: César Rojas-Bravo, celebrating our celestial bond.
I recently won the People’s Choice award at the UC Santa Cruz 2023 Grad Slam competition, where graduate students across the entire university presented their research in just 3 minutes to the general audience. The video of my presentation is below.
I’ve given two talks (in Spanish and English) at San Francisco State University as part of their Noche de Estrellas, talking about Dark Energy and Gravitational Waves, in November 2022 and May 2023.

I’ve also helped during La Noche de las Estrellas, an outreach Spanish-speaking event at Lick Observatory from 2017-2022, and giving Astronomy talks at local Santa Cruz primary schools.
In Costa Rica, my home country, the public has been very excited to know that a fellow Costa Rican has been involved in this gravitational/electromagnetic wave breakthrough discovery. I gave a public lecture at my former university, Universidad de Costa Rica, in December 2017.
During 2015-2016, I collaborated at the Planetarium of University of Costa Rica in several activities:
- giving popular Astronomy talks to local public schools
- guiding the general public in our “Observational Astronomy Nights” at the Planetarium.
- taking telescopes to rural communities and guiding them on observation nights.
- coauthor of the 2017 Astronomical Calendar of the lanetarium of University of Costa Rica
